Killed: 600+bhp CLS55
Really wasn't expecting to keep up and I was supposed to race him with my modded CLS55. But it was late and I was too lazy to go back and change cars. So we had a short run from 5-110mph (till my speed limiter kicked in).
His car: dynoed 620hp MKB-tuned CLS55 AMG
My car: STOCK Nissan GTR with only 700 miles
Result: Beat him by 1 car length!
We were both shocked. I posted recently in the C63 AMG forum that I thought my CLS was faster than my new GTR. And my friend's CLS was on paper 'faster' than mine. Thus the outcome left me somewhat surprised. However, it was a very impromptu run and the result is by no means conclusive. I will run him again with my CLS to see how fast his car, or for that matter the GTR, really is.

I want audio, video, holograms, everything. As much detail as possible. I want pictures of all of the screens on the MFD. I want pictures of the undertray. I want video of how the gauges come on at startup.
Hell, I want a video of the coolant needle as it moves from cold to warm as you start the car.

You'd have been an internet hero with that video my friend.
I believe it would be the first on the planet GTR kill story.
If you can match up again and snag it on vid, you'd make a lot of people happy. GTR fans that is.

If you're telling me you can't just pick up any random asian chick on the street while pushing a brand new GTR, there's a serious problem here.

my buddy has a fairly well modded r34 (600+hp) and got to go for a run in the new r35 and said the r35 felt faster. i think this new gtr is highly underrated from the factory!

the huge weight of the cls is another factor to keep in mind.
I wish they kepted the skyline name. I think it has a better ring to a it.
But yeah the gtr is very underrated from the factory.
Someone dyno'ed the gtr at 475whp stock from the factory.

The car dyno's at 475 to the wheels. add 20% drive train loss and that equals 593.75 to the brake horse power.
on the dynapak so on a dynojet it would be closer to 550 to the crank.

here's a pretty good video.
The reviewer presents the cars pretty well and not as bias as top gear.
Nissan GTR vs Porsche 911 gt3 vs e90 m3
The m3 is only in there because its comparable in price to the gtr.

Was it me or did he not rev out the M3 on take off. Tached up the Nissan and Porsche but I did not see that on the M3. Maybe it was just me?

I seem to think that maybe the sound is muffled by the E90 M3s exhaust...cool thou I wonder how well the GTR would fair against the new GT2...since the GTR is a tad faster then the 911(997) and current GT3?

It was hard to see the RPMs on the M3 but I could swear they where not up around 4K. Either way they are all faster than what I drive

Is there a posted 997 GT2 Nurburgring time anywhere on the internet? I couldn't find it, if somebody could, the times should tell the story.

the gtr spec-v looks like it might live up to the hype.
The regular gtr did a ring time of around 7:38. In comparison the new Corvette zr-1 hit a ring time of around 7:40.
The GTR spec-v hit a ring time of 7:25. So far all they really did is just add 70hp and make the car 330lbs lighter.
Here's the auto blog link to it

Leading up to the official reveal of the Corvette ZR-1, a rare week went by when we didn't see spy shots of the General's new super coupe eating up the Nurburgring. But still images don't tell the whole tale, so InsideLine sent its spies to the North Loop with a video camera to capture an uncloaked ZR-1 making the rounds on the 'Ring. According to the men behind the lens, they were able to clock the 620 hp, supercharged 'Vette running laps "in the low 7:40s," easily within reach of supercars costing substantially more than the ZR-1's estimated $100k price tag. But what about the elephant on the 'Ring in the room? The Nissan GT-R V-Spec.
As reported earlier this week, spies caught the GT-R V-Spec lapping the Nordschleife, and with stopwatches at the ready, they were able to time Godzilla's lightweight (by an estimated 330 pounds), more powerful (70 hp or so) sibling at an unbelievable 7:25 per lap. According to the crew that crudely timed the ZR-1, the track was damp, so that 7:40 time could easily be improved by at least four or five seconds. But that's still a long way off.
Obviously, both lap times should be taken with a grain of salt considering the less-than-accurate way in which they were captured, but that won't stop the smack-talk. Keep it civil folks.
