cooper s vs maxima

i recently bought a 2004 mini cooper s as my weekend toy. i was on the highway I90 and im having some fun with it keeping it 3rd jumping around out of no where a maxima pops out ( the one with 3.5l) we start playing around and surpisingly i raped it for lack of a better term. my question : how will the new mustang gt hold up to my mini?

The Mustang will be much quicker off the line, from a roll, or on a high speed blast. The Mini is the more responsive and better handling car though.

your saying your 2700lb 163hp mini cooper beat a 3600lb 255hp maxima?

Even the power to weight ratios doesn't favor you.

Sorry i call bs or the guy wasn't racing.

To answer your question, the new gt mustang would own you off the line and on the high way.

More so off the line.

I ran a Cooper S from a 20-80 roll with my CLK500. It was ridiculously slow...I beat him horribly. We stopped at 80 because there was no reason to go any higher. He wanted to run again and I beat him even worse. But they are supposed to handle good, plus they are "fun," right?

I'd say that a 3.5 Nissan would take a Cooper S pretty easily.

Yeah, I smoked a Cooper S in reverse the other day while blindfolded, playing PSP, and blowing up baloon toys and throwing them out the open windows and sunroof to little kids on bigwheels. I cut things off at 110 when it looked like he was losing pretty bad....put like 10 buslengths on him. No biggie...

Can these Mini drivers not drive? The difference between them and a C43 (or a CLK500) is not that extreme. The Mercs are no doubt more powerful, but 10 buslengths is a bit much man.

For a fwd car, i think the mini is a little over weight and underpowered. But then again there not meant to be drag cars. There meant to be fun handling cars, with a unique look.

After viewing the posts about such brutal beatings of these little things, I was curious and browsed around dragtimes. For the most part, the trap speeds and times were not that far off from the CLK500 or C43 stock. Both are clearly faster, but judging by that info, it doesn't appear to be anywhere near several buslengths...assuming good driving on the part of the Mini. I agree though, more power is certainly needed. Pack 250bhp under that little bonnet and make it into more of an enthusiasts car over a pseudo cult-following.

I'm 101% sure that he was joking.

the car barely breaks into the 15's. Most economy cars now a days can do that. At least they got some decent power out of the new one, but they should've just bored it out to 1.8L and at brought it up to 200hp. That way it would at least be comparable within its class.

But like i said, the cars more meant to be a fun handling car, rather then a race car.

Maybe the driver completely sucked...'cause he pulled up to the gas station revving his little sowing machine like crazy and about 5 guidos hopped out the back. He also claimed his car weighed 1500lbs ...when I told him to race my 3700lb autotradgic german tank, he laughed at me and so did all his friends. So, idk, draw your own conclusions...he probably couldn't row gears to save his life. All I know is he got spanked

Why do people over-exaggerate like that in public? I see it all the time...people running their mouths about their car's inflated abilities (this is seen TOO much with "VTEC").

I'm not doubting your kill, anything can happen with driver error, just saying the stats put these cars closer than one may assume.

I agree. the VQ35 is one sweet motor, (its the same in the 350Z and G35), and Maxes will run mid 14's stock. If this Max had a 6 spd. he's even faster.

yeah there pretty reliable motors and they take boost really well. You can buy the motors for relatively cheap too.

One day i want to buy a 240sx and drop a vq in there.
