I'm a long time reader of this sub-forum, but my first post here. I own a 2007 ML500 stock. Was stopped at an intersection to make a left turn up a very large hill. There are left turn lanes and a 05/06 330ci convertible pulls up beside me. As I was beside him, I didn't get to see the badge so it may have been a 335? Anyways, normally I would just let things be, but he had his top down with his gangsta rap cranked up. Typical gangsta wannabe with his ballcap turned backwards. Anyways, as soon as the light turned green he gassed it and chirped his tires through the turn. At that point I said thought to myself why not. As soon as I got out of the turn, I hit the gas hard. At that point I was at on his backside. He noticed I was game and he was hitting it hard too. Both os us going up hill, I slowly pulled away from him getting up to about 110 kph. At point I had to make a right hand turned so I slowed down, but at that time I was at least 1 car length ahead.

Anyways, I know its a convertible so it its heavy and not so quick. If it was a coupe, I expect I wouldn't have beaten him. My truck isn't built for racing, so any small victories I have, I have to savour

335i is 07 and on (new body style) so it was a 330. Good kill, ML500 moves nicely esp from the light

Well, since 335i is about same speed as Cayenne Turbo S, I would say that it was probably 325i that could be rebadged to anything......ML500 is fast SUV, but it won't take 330i or 335i.

I raced 335i in my modded Audi A5 putting down 206KW and 600NM and lost to it badly, I have also raced Cayenne Turbo (after facelift, 2007+) and we were equally fast....

It was the older model before the redesign so I have to assume it was a 330ci. It could have been rebadged, but I'm positive it wasn't a 325ci because if it was, I would have pulled away from him alot quicker. I think the extra 300 pounds by being a convertible is what did him in.

i dont think the OP is from the US. If so his 07 ML500 = US ML550s, which i think can take a 330, but NEVER a 335

MY07 still gave us the ML500. MY08 was when we got the ML550.

I dont know about you being able to take a 330ci, I personally have raced a 07 Ml500 in the ML55, took him out pretty good. I have raced 3 330i / ci's in the 55 (including the 256hp 06) and the 55 was pretty much neck and neck, pulling above 70 or so each time. I have this down to a science as I have a friend with a 330ci 5spd =).

Maybe your friend's Cayenne Turbo S was sick?

The kill is very possible. The description of the BMW driver gives me an idea that he doesn't know how to drive. Plus it was on a road with turns not a drag race.
Nice kill!

You are correct. The uphill road has 2 major curves, the first one right then a left like an S.

Your ML has the 5.5liter V8, correct as you're in Europe?

Trust me They are not as fast as everybody thinks. Don't forget they have no aerodynamics and they weight million kilograms.

On the other hand 335i is just as fast as E46 M3 which is clearly faster than a Cayenne Turbo S, no doubt about that.
