Fun video! M3, 350Z, Skyline GT-R, Boxster, S2000
Not really...I was at the dragstrip three weeks ago with a new 350z. It's fast, but compares more to a Boxster S.
The Miata does REALLY REALLY well on the track though its acceleration totally blows.
Basically 350Z = pretty fast car + excellent tracking abilities. I have not watched the full video myself. Probably going to order the DVD come Jan.

Yes, but I was challenging his that the 350z BEATS the M3 in lap times. I'm confident that the 350z does not outhandle the M3. With more power, the M3 can only pull away. Your comments are largely obvious.
Not to get into a pissing match but how where my comments obvious? Yes the M3 is faster but that has nothing to do with track performance. Yes it does help but the Z can hold its own. The power band is way down low so you get all the torque you need at mid range rpms vs at redline. Basically you get all the power while heel toe shifting and coming out of the corner vs been at half power while rev matching/heel toe shifting.

We are agreeing about the same thing, it just seems like you want to make sure I know that the 350z tracks well.
Yes the miata does extrodinarily well at the track, and yes the 350z does well. The issue again is, does the 350z produce better lap times on a larger track (with equal drivers)? The answer is no. All your other information of the differences about how the two cars produce their power doesn't seem relevant. Sorry if my tone came off wrong.

I am quite sure the Z will do a lot better than most people expect possibely even tying with the M3 if not very close behind.
You are right when it comes to long straights the M3 would probably win hands down but most tracks do not have very long straights. Maybe I'll revise this thread Jan 18th
