lol...i'm in jersey as well...i havent had that problem yet with the C class cars...though im sure once it gets nice out again i will...typically my car (the bmw, not the benz)is a magnet to anyone who thinks their car is even slightly fast anyways...

Since you can't spell "They're" I'll bite, since I'm an NYU grad myself. What school did you go to, what was your major and name 3 dorms. What's on the mezzanine of the student center? Where's the best pizza in Washington Square and what bar do all of the hot FIT girls hang out at (any NYU finance major worth his salt knows this answer). Because the more you talk the less I believe you. Especially with the "I invested" statement because the last bull run was sweet but it wasn't 400% return sweet.

The fact is that some people will inherit a great deal of money, and all they have to do is manage it well, so you should get used to that now.

There are a lot of people who have a star in front of them from cradle to grave, and just because they live well does not mean that they do not appreciate what they have. I will buy my children anything they want, provided that they conduct themselves properly and convince me that they deserve it.

I guess I am guilty.

Bought my kids a C280 Sport, C230 Sport and last year for Christmas a C300 Sport.

All girls and the first one to get her own Merc was 16.5 years old....safety is a priority for me

Sounds like you and Slewell have a major chip on your shoulder. A guy who I do a lot of business with just bought his daughter a new LS-600H for her 21st. She didn't want it, but he wanted to treat her and being worth in the bn's this is how he chose to do it. I was still driving my diesel Golf with 15" wheels at 23 but I don't think that makes me a hero or means his daughter deserves to put in some arbitrary category formulated by the jealous.

Ive noticed that ever since i got my wheels and lowered the car, kids get excited and blow by me wanting to race. I know my car is slow and usually laugh it off. Unless its a 325 or something i know i can keep up with or possibly beat.

I would never race an amg. However, i drool every time i see one and usually try to keep it in view on the highway just because i want one so bad. Hope you guys dont mistake this as a race.

MB’s of all kinds.
[quote=sleewell;3228324]who buys their kid a MB? quote]

I know lots of people who have. Here in Saratoga mostly young kids drive the W202 or W203 C240 or the 3 Series. Look on the CLS forum on here. If your unhappy with people buying C Classes for their kids. There is someone looking to buy a CLS 55 AMG for their 17 year old.

Im guilty also. SO WHAT! I dont care becasuse I know my children a good kids and are responsible. They all get good grades so I belive they do deserve it. I purchased a New Mustang GT for my oldest son. Got him a Supercharger for it for his birthday about 5 months later. He had that for a couple of years untill it got old then he wanted a Saab. Got that, it got old now he drives a Cadillac. My second son I got him the 2000 C280 Sport when he was 16 years old. I drive it now because he went off to College and does not need it. My youngest is now 16 and is looking for a car. Im seeing an SLK 230 Kompressor or SLK 320 Sport in her future.

Ditto.
I've known a bunch of kids who just were given expensive cars. I knew two kids back in high school who got an M3 and an S4 when they were 16.

Sure back then I wish I could have had the same, but my parents didn't believe in just giving me 50k to blow on a car out of the blue, even though they could. Now I'm 21 and I'm grateful for what they refused to do. I'm finally going to get a C300 soon, and it's with my own hard-earned money.

My parents helped me build character, which is gift better than any car money can buy.

I have a C300, I'm a kid, but I'm not retarded enough to try to race everything in my sight, let alone an AMG.

When I was driving around in my g35 coupe I would alwayz try to egg on all the faster cars knowing that ill get smoked. It's great just watching how much power a car has and how every second that passes by u see the taillights getting smaller and smaller. Ever since I got the E55 it doesnt happen that often nemore though.

Well, I don't know about you guys, but when I see a nice AMG model or like an E60 M5, I'll try and get them to play. I won't front and tailgate them and try and act tough, because I know their cars are much faster than mine, which is exactly why I want to see exactly what they're made of.

But in the case of the red C300, I'm sure it was just a brat thinking that red makes his car go faster

Advans...smooth wheels on that 5 series. I am getting my wheels powdercoated the same color on my M6 (without the red lip).

Why does everyone get so offensive when we talk about kids having nice cars? If my son in 15 years has gotten good grades, is responsible.....etc....I would have NO problem buying him a nice car to reward him. I think parents who buy their kids cars with 400 HP are a hell of alot dumber than those who buy C-classes for them. It's one thing to buy them a nice car...another to buy them something you know is going to be dangerous for them at an age where they don't know what they are doing.

Cylinder...you can be 21 and out of college easily. That's about the minimum.

Kids are just that....kids. They think their cars are fast and bad. I had a 1989 Grand Am I thought was bad back in 1998.

Comments like "my parents taught me character instead of buying me a car, etc." are stupid....especially when most of the people saying this are like only 21 years old and act as if they know the world, too.

The whole point of being a parent is teaching your child to do great things and be a good person and hopefully give them a better life than you had.

E55 used....new C300....whatever, it's not like we are talking about Lambos here. Both cars are what.....$25-30k....it's no different than a kid having a new G37 or GTO.

I go to my local city college, and I have a C300. Theres a few W204's, many W203's, lot's of IS250's, and a few 328 and 330's. The people I've come to contact with all drive their cars responsibly. Sometimes I'll do a jackrabbit start for ****s and giggles, but racing, to me, is lame.

I don't think it is the case of the kid getting a car, the issue usually arises where said kid begins posting on forums how saavy and successful they are ("hey look at me, I'm 22 and drive an 80k car, and I run a management consulting business"). Before it begins to unravel, the person is merely an irritant to the other members. If they behaved normally, I don't think anyone else would even notice.

1. First of all I have the new C class and I have it modded rims, smoked ot taillights, grille, etc. etc. I dont race people cuz quite frankly its embarrassing how slow my C350 lmao I got it for the looks is but I got a supercharged E46 I crush cocky teenagers with on weekends.
2. You said you slugged your way through college and graduated in 3 years. My girl just graduated from NYU in 3.5 years and there is no way you can bs ur way through NYU and graduate early and get a job at an high end bank unless you know people or really applied yourself to your studies. NYU is a difficult school.
3. I would say majority of the NYU kids are rich if not filthy rich that go there. The school is 40K+ a year so your parents must have some kind of money or you would be up to you neck in paying student loans driving a Daewoo not an E55 right now.
4. Yes there are so many spoiled little b****** driving around its nutty. But I use to be one of them, when I was 18 my father got me a brand new G35 and yeah I thought I was the man Honestly when you are young and you are offered a brand new sick car of course you're not gonna say no. So my point is u cant generalize so much cuz there are some that go through that stage and eventually grow up and become fine.
5. I would be more worried about the Guidos in NJ driving their 350's 55's with AMG emblems thinking they run the show....

Comments like that aren't stupid because they're true. There's a sense of appreciation and self-fulfillment that comes with buying great things for yourself, instead of being served them on a silver platter for whatever reason.
And no my angry little friend, most people did not say what you quoted, only I did. So relax. You want to buy your kid a nice expensive car, go for it. But don't say I ever pretended to know the world, or whatever else it was that you mentioned there. I simply talked about how my parents actions shaped me out to be a better person, instead of some of the arrogant *****s that I had to deal with in high school.

Easy tough guy.
