Running on a empty highway at maybe 2am. Driving to the poolhall at around 40 mph waiting for some cars to roll by who would want to run. Lucky us we spot a set headlights flying by. he seemed to be going around 65 mph and timed it just right so we would be neck and neck at around 70 mph. i start slowing down to see what kinda reaction i would get, and so did he, we eventually slowed down to about 40mph. It was running pretty close until we got to about 70 where i slowly started to gain on him. eventually I ended up having about half a car length. Took another shot at it but same result. Car is alot faster than I imagined, and annoyingly loud. Personally i think their pretty nice cars. Driver was real cool, got his number(no homo) hoping to meet up again in about a month once weather warms and we both get some mods. both stock.


Two days later same highway...
Pull up to a wawa off the highway to get some drinks and as we pull into the parking lot there are maybe about 10 cars sitting around in their little ricers. There were about 3 SRT4s, a pretty nice looking Sti, Audi A4, and a couple of other cars. Looked like high schoolers, but anyhow as im walking out of the wawa (with a buddy) they come up to us chuckling and asking if we wanted to run. We asked against what, they said against his A4. At that point me and my buddy look at each other baffled wondering, the person either doesnt know anything about mercedes or he has a hell of turbocharged A4 running on nos. But then it struck us, regardless of the v12 emblem on the side of the car, the one teenager asks us, what is that a V6? We laugh and say yes, thinking it wasnt a serious question. Then they say they would like to put money down. They were pretty cocky. So i was more than happy to run against him. put 90 down each, and decided to run. We took a total of four cars, it was a two lane highway so two cars were in the lanes behind us blocking traffic, and we took a rolling start from 40. it was initially quicker than i imagined, the kid did put some money in it, he said had about 370 whp. but still no contest, had him by about 5-6 by the time we got off the exit. we pull to the ramp and he said he wanted to do another, obviously with no money down. gave him another shot, same result. Ended up telling him to keep his money, the kids were actually pretty cool and not too hardheaded, they wanted to take a peak inside, talked for a bit.

Hysterical story- happens to me more often than one would think....."What, you want to run that 4-door Mercedes against MY 5.0 Mustang with Flowmasters?? You must be kiddding....."

I lined up with an SRT8 with paper plates on it about a week ago.....he was the typical arrogant high school kid until we went from a dig and I had about 4-5 lengths on him by the time we hit 80....then he suddenly was quite humble, and actually pretty cool. He was baffled by the V-12 TT .

I love stories like that. I was at the drags this fall in the C32 just looking to get a reference time from a few quick passes. I get lined up vs a Z28 Camero (last body style late '90's). I smoked him, walking away on top end.

Down at the end of the return lane, he asks, "Dude, WTF is that thing?" To which I reply, oh it is just a little 3.2 liter V6. He goes on, "How much NOS you runnin?" I answer, "None why?" He just shook his head. Later, a member of our gourp who had brought his 1998 Mustang Cobra SVC with the DOHC V8 came over. I had been trapping consistently about 4-6 tenths faster than his car. He was asking the exact same questions, "WTF is that thing???"
