B5 S4 vs CLS55

B5 S4 vs CLS55

I'm getting some work done on my car, so I was driving our Stage 2+ S4 shop car for the day. On the way back from school today when I see a 745i and a CLS55 fly by me. I pace them and catch up to them at the light. They were side by side and I was behind the CLS55. Both of them take off, the CLS55 pulls on the 7 series very hard, while Im sitting on the CLS's ***, second I get a window to cut next to him I do and I start pulling on the CLS pretty hard.

By 110 I was about 2 lengths up on him, at which point I let off due to traffic. Guy's girl in the passenger seat gave me a thumbs up. The S4 I was driving has a full catless exhaust, our custom file annnd a nice clutch.

S4 vs CLS55

Good one. The B5 version of the S4 is the twin-turbo V6 right? I know that they can be made to go very quick. Do you have any idea what sort of RWHP numbers the one you were driving is putting down? Just curious as I have been intrigued with that little car since the first time I saw one.

I can tell that guy's girl wants to jump in your car lol....nice run man.

The Bi-turbo v6 is the same engine that is in my c5 A6. With just a simple chip it is projected to be 318hp. It seems to be well known for power and maintenance. So far , knock wood, it has treated me great. I remember going to test drive an '03 BMW 530 at a used car dealership. The salesman bent over backwards to tell me how unreliable my 2.7t engine was and how his dealearship would never sell any Audi with that model engine. During the test drive, I commented on the car being sluggish. His words were, "sir, you can't compare the 530i to the turbo'ed Audi. The Audi has too much power, it's just not fair."

With a lame GIAC chip yep.. We have very aggressive software running on this car along with higher boost. It puts out a good bit more than the competition

millitant grunt - first of all, how have you been? Im the guy that had the W210 E55 at the parking lot meet up we did in MA through AMGpower.com. Remember?

Anyway, just met a guy with a stage 2+ S5, same year and he wants to run my stock W211 E55. What do those cars run in the 1/4 mile? do you know? What do they put down for power?

Oooh ****, long time haha. Well the fastest stage 2+ car runs 12.283 @ 114.24, a VAST performance car.

The car I was driving hasn't been tracked yet, but Im sure its damn near that if not faster. Most CLS's run mid to high 12's, so I'm not surprised at the result at all.

You should be able to crap on his parade though (Im guessing you meant an S4, because an S5 is a 4.2l V8), Unless hes tuned by us, then he's running a standard off the shelf file, our car has a tune crafted to the mods on the car, which makes it that much faster. Also depends what other bolt on's he has on the car.

I don't know... maybe he wasn't pushing it?

Even my B5 S4 got ate up by the 55Ks... and I had a little over 350WHP... I ran a guy that was at Shoreline Motoring one day because I thought I had a chance. Man I got ate up.

How much awhp you pushing?

HAHHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!! "Hey Greg, lemmie get the keys to your car" ROFL. And this is exactly why I NEVER trusted you with my car. But yeah the car prob has 300-320 awhp and its been lightened a little bit.

Yeah those 55 kompressors trap 115+ stock. For a car to come around from behind should be trapping 120mph Probably the pump in the cls 55 was going.

That's what I was thinking. My E55 was running door to door with my brother's stock LS2 GTO (rated at 400hp). Up until I changed the IC pump and it was game over... unless I would have raced the GTO I never would have known my pump was going out because there's so much power I didn't notice the difference-- I did notice the cut-off though.

Jon, maybe your slow CLK wants to play, seeing you said on numerous occasions that you'd take down a stage 2 S4.

Have no qualms putting this on video. Mind you, this isn't the first time this has happened, in another S4, also owned by one of the shop buddies, we pulled HARD on a CL55k up to 120+. (Same file and setup)

Yeah I also walked a stock 06 GTO (400hp)6spd. We did this couple times. My bros 04 GTO (350hp)stock with exhaust and tune runs 13.5@104mph. When we run I lose traction badly and it takes awhile fro me to come around him. But when I hookup in warmer temps I walk him right from the beginning.

Ok the fastest Stg2 S4 traps 114 and the Cls55k traps 114+. Your run you pull him hard. Well obviously he put on the brakes or his pump was shot. Wait your S4 traps 120mph Run my friends E63 and lets see you pull him hard

Remember these races (CLS63,E63) all depend on the driver. Not every 55K car will run xxx speed in the 1/4 mile automatically That's like saying you've seen every normally aspirated CLK55 or w210 E55 run the same mph in the 1/4 mile each and every time. Speeds can vary amongst every car based on alot of factors.

I can guarantee you a modded nicely tuned Stg 2 S4 will give your car the devil. Bring the CLK to E-town this spring if you doubt it.

Jeez I wish I did'nt evacuate my plans to build my Talon. I'd run ANY modded E55K stg whatever or E63 you could bring or invite.

Foot in mouth Yeah I know not all 55k run the same trap speeds. But for a car to come around and pull on it hard needs a good running speed. Just comparing the fastest stg2 s4 vs a running right 55k which traps 11x mph. No way no how a stg2 s4 will pull a 55k or e63 Just do the math

Hey guys,

I use to own an B5 S4 and downgraded to a w203 C350. Anyway all I know is that John's CLK will get raped by the S4. All an S4 needs is KO4 turbos and a Garrette Chip (Anyone with a Gerrette chip knows how agressive it is and your going to blow your damn turbos lol) and it will whoop a C63, E63, CLK63.

A slug!!! Modded they can run high to mid 13's @ over 100mph with the 6spd manual. How fast has your c36 ran the 1/4 mile? My M3 is waiting for your C36.

My 1.8t running off wastegate 10psi on a base file can stomp on Jon's antique.

As you can see I said the CLK will get raped by the S4 and then I said with just a KO4 upgrade and Garrette Chip it will even smoke a C63, E63, CLK63. So I dont think this was off topic at all.



It's not that bad but compared to my S4 (manual) it's pretty weak. Don't Underestimate the C350, It's a pretty quick car.

Also the swapping out turbos, any S4 driver will tell you that the stock turbos are pretty weak. Weak as in they go out soon. That's the real reason people swap out the turbos to RS4 (KO4) Turbos.

Actually your C36 can't take it. I'm a 3.5 V6 268/258 and you are a AMG 3.6 I6 268/280. (hahaha calling the the C350 a slug )
