I think traps are a bit closer than that, but clearly the SL600 would win based upon these numbers:

R29 SL600 tested in ams 01/1999:
0 - 80 km/h 4,3 s
0 - 100 km/h 5,8 s
0 - 120 km/h - s
0 - 140 km/h 10,1 s
0 - 160 km/h - s
0 - 180 km/h 15,9 s
0 - 200 km/h 20,0 s
1 km, stehender Start 24,9 s

C36 tested in sport auto 09/1993:
0 - 80 km/h 5,2 s
0 - 100 km/h 7,1 s
0 - 120 km/h 9,5 s
0 - 130 km/h - s
0 - 140 km/h 12,6 s
0 - 160 km/h 16,4 s
0 - 180 km/h 21,6 s
0 - 200 km/h 30,5 s

C36 tested in ams 16/1993:
0 - 80 km/h - s
0 - 100 km/h 6,7 s
0 - 120 km/h - s
0 - 130 km/h - s
0 - 140 km/h 12,4 s
0 - 160 km/h - s
0 - 180 km/h 21,2 s
0 - 200 km/h 29,0 s
1 km, stehender Start 27,0 s

So they would appear to be about 2.5 sec apart in the standing km, a pretty big gap to be sure.

Nice data; that site is very useful one, especially considering how arduous it can be sometimes to find test results on older German cars.

From what I've seen the traps on the SL range from 102-106 mph, and I have yet to see the C36 cracking the low/mid 90's, so that's where I got my estimate from.

Here is a video of '93 600SL running to 200 km/h. He launches the car between 11-12 seconds into the video and hits 200 at about 0:28, indicating a time a bit quicker than that magazine's test, although he did power-brake the launch.

This thing moves pretty well given the sheer mass it has to haul around. But if you want more of a thrill ride, go with the BiTurbo...that is just a different league of power.

Very, very close, my S600 I think would just have the edge on my SL55.

The 600 engine had turbos after 2001 in the UK.
