Ontario, CA Street races (W210 E430 vs W202 C?)

This is more of what I wanted to know for my own personal reference. Last night I was at the notorious Ontario street races in So. Cal. I was rolling with 4 additional guys in my E430.

At around 3am, a C?? hits me up for a friendly race. I ask the guy, "Which C is it?". He replies, "C230"... Well the car was de-badged so I couldn't tell. It was silver, and I don't remember seeing the "AMG" body kit. I thought if he want's to race a E430 it has to be either a C43 or a C36 or a C230 with something. Anyway. I went up on at the line with all 4 guys. Got smoked at the launch by 1/2 car lenght it just ended that way.

Of course if this was a C230 or C230K I should be able to beat the guy even with a full load. So I decided to drop off 3 of my friends. Went back at the line, this time we launch head to head. It wasn't till 3rd gear till I started pulling on him.

He comes back after we parked, and we shook hands because it was a pretty good run. I ask him again, "Is that a C230 Kompressor? Or is it chipped??"...he replies smiling, "It's stock C230"...and he just walks off. Umm...

So without the extra weight, I won. However I don't think this guy I raced is telling me the truth.

I want to find out what it would have taken for a C230 or C230K to keep up with a E430. Since I know a C43/C36 would have done it stock.

Where in Ontario are the street races? I'm over in Rancho Cucamonga, I'd like to go check them out. If that car was a C230 or C230K, you would have been able to tell just by the sound of the engine, it sounds like a tractor. It was probably an AMG car, or maybe a C280.

2002 C230K
the e430 has a 0-60 of 6.2, and let's say 6.6 on a bad day. a w202 c230 has a 0-60 of 10.1, so it wasnt that. let's say it was a c230k. a w202 c230k has a 0-60 of 8.1 Let's say it was a good day and those numbers were conservative, and his was 7.6. That's still a 1 second difference. He was full of $#!+. rather notorious though in ontario, the whole saying you have something less to get people to race, or just to get that look on their face.

Good race, that guy was not a c230, it was c230k and then some; that is one more reason why people shouldn't re or debage their cars.

I'm thinking it was a C280, possibly a C36 or C43, but more likely a 280.

2002 C230K
even a c280 couldnt do it. a c280 had a 0-60 of 8.0 seconds. maybe if he put a blower on it, then i believe it. i'd bet for the c36 or c43.

Most people meet up at the Mobil station on Milliken off the 10 FWY. There is a Denny's across the street. There you'll be able to follow the crowds to different racing spot at Ontario.

From what I know they meet on Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday nights. From around 11:45pm-4am the next day.

Didn't hear any whines like a aftermarket supercharged C. I am thinking it's a C36 or a C230K with some "work" done. It was extremely quiet.

C32 AMG
My info might be incorrect, but isn't the C36 faster than the E430? I used to have a 00' 230K and the car is pretty quick. I would assume it can hang with the E430 then lose at the top end. Sounds like what was described in your post.

C36 and C43 is about .1 sec from each other depending where you look and about .2 or .3 between a E430. So it really depends down to the driving(the jump).
