Loll having a chevy isn't bad if u hav a vette but its no comparison to mercedes ///AMG plain and simple. As far as using my car as a peen extension, lollll. I don't know y I bother man. Just can't help a chevy owner saying mercedes amg is a piece of ****.

In 2005, the C6 Vert had a manual folding soft top as std equipment. The SLK55 had the automatic folding hadtop as std equipment. The GM sales guy should have advised us that for an extra $2k (and 14lb additional weight penalty), the car could be equipped with an auto top. I guess the C6 car was too new back then - blame it on GM poor Sales training - I dunno.

Aside from the top issue already mentioned, the SLK was just as quick, had more compact dimensions, better build quality, was significantly more rare. It made no sense to buy the Vette given these factors - especially when the price was the same. I think everyone knows the Vette is a great performing all out sports car made available to most Americans. I just don't think bashing AMG stock sedan straight line low-to-mid 12 second quarter mile peformance against your 2 seat Vette is wise?
As others have noted, AMGs can be modded - it's a time money thing. Many would rather climb into their Fountain powerboats than wrench on one of their car transportation vehicles. yea a chevy that picks up way more girls then you can in ANY benz hahaha.... 99.9 of chicks cant tell what your c63 is nor do they care its all the same as the c300 4matic's out there lol. badge up a c300 with c63 emblems and 9 out of 10 will think thats what it is.

ahahah Yea which is why I take it to offense cauz ///AMG is far from a piece of ****. I'm a car enthusiast and the vette is great car. Performance is the main category focused when these cars are produced where as a AMG cars is a balance of everything. The main thing is that most of the world sees a vette as a chevy and a mercedes as well a mercedes. I respect all and theres always faster or better just RESPECT is all u need.

Having owned Vetts in the past, they were nice for their time but no longer do anything for me like a nice 996/997TT or likewise. Even with 1000hp a Vette is just insignificant IMO. I'm sure others would trade in their first born before giving up all of that plastic, but for me, guess it's one of those been there done that type of things. C6s are fun kills though. Flame away.

Sorry, never will live in NY again-great to visit. Tired of bumper guards on my cars Stock C6s just lack. Can you make them fast, sure. But then, it' still just a Corvette to me. If I wanted a real fast car these days, the Vette would be low on the list with the Supra/GT-R up top. Like I stated, had Vettes in the past , they were fine then, but I'm over them now. If you like yours, fine, you will move on one day to something else, we all do.

C6's lack? and somehow you then compare them unfavorably with a Supra or GT-R? You sir, apparently do not want a "fast car", but want to appear fast. Not saying a Supra can't be made fast, (or Gt-R), but it is more about "image" vs. "reality".

Take one look at race tracks across the country from any drag strip to auto-cross course, to SCCA or NASA road race. Hell, even throw in World Challenge and ALMS. Clearly, the C6 is anything but lacking to be so broadly fast and competitive right out of the box.

I'd be pretty confident that in a C6, I could pretty much slap a set of stickies and track pads on it and run track events for many years without encountering problems. I don't imagine with the problems the GT-Rs have had with transmissions, you would be able to say the same.

Having owned a Supra, turbo lag, an aging car and body flex don't exactly make the best track car unless modded. An NSX is probably a better choice. I miss it, loved it, but there are better choices.

I reviewed a GT-R and drove it in the mountains. It's very heavy, site lines for corner placement are poor and it does absolutely nothing for improving driver skill. A great car, but a grand tourer, not a track car.

A C6 is a great choice for the track.
