M5 on 71N
Normal on-the-way-home kind of day, and I see a BMW 5 series in my rear view. We were on 275E heading for the 71N ramp. Lots of traffic, but to be honest I had no idea it was an M until after he passed me on the left. It was an older M5, the 394 HP version, very very clean car and some really nice sounding aftermarket exhaust, I got a good taste of it as he blew by on the far left and I was in gridlock. A little bit up the road I fell in behind him and he was holding in a lower gear, I could hear his RPMs through that sweet exhaust. Want to say again, VERY nice M5, especially considering it is getting on in age. Well, I stayed in a car length or so behind him, and sure enough a spot opened up, so did the M5 driver, I mean that thing barked at me lol. I kept in same gear for a bit then spotted a nice wide opening and dropped it. Man, I gotta say this car makes me grin every time, no matter how many times I go to the track or stretch it's legs out on the street, it always suprises me how violently it accelerates when you give it the beans. Anyway, the 55 had a nice M5 for lunch, I came around him really hard, harder than I thought I would after all, since after hearing his exhaust note, I would have thought there were other mods as well, but I had bus lengths on him at this point. I slowed and got into my exit lane on the right, he went by, we both had big grins and he gave a big thumbs up...just 2 guys enjoying their rides. Great fun and great cars. These E55s are exactly what Chicago-X said, antisocial.
