oooooof, that same NOWAK N500 M5 has been invited to come here to Bahrain. Its just a drive over the causeway by the way..
the challenger.... our local boy's 580HP highly modified PORSCHE 996 TT.
we will obviously post the vids for our M5 fans to watch!
oh and hopefuly, another guys W211 Kleeman E55 AMG should be ready for the challenge too, just for the sheer pleasure and satisfaction of the benz boys here!

For pure performance I'll take BMW M5 anytime. You can't compare the New SL with the outdated soon to replace M5. Lets just wait and see the new V10 powered M5 in the coming year and see what MB can come up with to defend it.
We own E430sport, E260, ML500 now and use to drive 325ic, M3, 530i, 540is, 740iL and 840ic. I know what BMW can do and I have never lost a street race to MB back in my BMW days. I love BMWs and now I like MBs I guess because I'm more mature now and it time to move on with something more identify with my age and social life style. Too many young brat is driving BMW now.

countdown to madness
Last night i got to see the full video on VHS of the saudi prince's N500 Nowack racing that night. WOW, his clutches wre gone by the end of the evening. Anyways, let me brief you guys on what really happened.
N500 SL55 was a kill for the N500
N500 vs diablo and ruff RT and 996 TT was ok as you can see. Then came the ones you didnt see MR GUSTAV!!!!
N500 vs ferrari F550 maranello and DODGE VIPER RT10. I gotta say.. I WANT THE MARANELLO!! But i have to be honest, the N500 beat them all! The dodge was spectacular from the rolling start of 60 mph.
Then the fun parts came when he started fish tailing the N500 all around town.. offff awsum really. Then some more local kids joined the party in their M3's, M5's Z roedsters, and 360 modenas. Also present were a bunch of vettes Z06's and some highly modified C5's.
Over all... the big news is, this guy is coming to Bahrain next monday. He's been given the royal hospitality.. cause he's gonna need it when the 996TT is done skinning him alive!!
By the way, a new challenger has showed up with a BRABUS E55AMG K8 which i believe has around 650HP's. Videos will be posted for all to enjoy!

The M5 is beginning to look like a regular 5-series with a bunch of body work 'tacked' on to the car. The dorky Quad-exhaust and the out of place bumper mouldings and ground effects make the car look dated.
The SL55 is a complete piece of art. The car is tight and mean, classy and just plain hot. If the car were a woman, it would be that Brazilian model from Victoria's secret or the Terminatrix (Kristanna Loken) from Terminator 3. Know-whut-I'm-sayin'!
I don't want a one-trick pony. If I did, I'd buy an S2000, hook up at 150-hp Direct-port NOS system and light the doors of ANY M5! But what would be the point?! I would still have rice-rocket that would probably have its emblems and rims jacked at the movies!
The M5 is like a plain girl with a BOOB JOB and the SL55 is one of the models named above...The WHOLE PACKAGE!

what you say is true, but keep in mind that there's 4-5 years seperating M5's technology and those on the SL55. You just can't compare them. A M5 today, can still beat the crap out of most sports car out there.

i still wonder how many people you normally see driving a M5 and a M3 really knows how to shift like a pro.
I'm guessing 30-35% of people who own those cars knows how to shift like a pro. 99.9% of the AMG owner knows how to mash the pedal and just go

I Agree, M5's dont turn heads, SL55's do, plus the M5's look like cars old people would drive, no offense, SL55's have the agressive flavor that I loveeeeeeee.
SL55 is my vote! Id like to see a Kleemann SL55K take a modified M5 on the drag strip, see who's the top dawg then.

Exactly. BMW is not capable of making a $150,000 car that is respectable. They are experts in the $65,000 and under category.
The M5 is simply NOT in the SL55's league. SL500 and SL55 are Supercars and the M5 is a sports-sedan, NOT an exotic.
The SL55 is just plain HOT. Just like the babe from T3 :p

I'm a new lover to MB but its seem like people here in the kill section have no real knowledge on cars and respect for real performance sedan(Money does not equal knowledge). You're all act out of ignorance and bias opioion on BMWs. I guess most of you never had an taste of so call Ultimate driving machine and what makes BMW so popular and the customer's so loyal to it. People in BMW's site are Performance car lover and love/respect any high performance car. I never see people in BMW forum trashing MB because they are all good cars and its all depends on personal taste. The reply I'm keep reading from this tread its really upsetting at show just how ignorance the MB folks could be as I alway suspected and known. The way you folks compare BMW to MB its like comparing an Z06 to SL55. Pure muscle to gentleman like refinement. Z06 will kick SL55's *** in bone stock and I'm surethe Z06 owner's must be laughing at all of us who is in $70k plus cars that can't beat them at the stop light. No offense to anyone, I just want to point out some issues here and calm the thing downs a little bit.

Please also take a look at the new models coming out, ie the new 7 series are hideus and the upcoming 5 series are fugly looking as well. That is my honest opinion on those new models. If you think I'm biased and more partial to MB, then I can also tell you that the C-Coupes I think are fugly as well. Some cars/models just are in a class of their own, some deserve a bashing, but that is just ones opinion. Sometimes ones opinion is agreed upon by a lot of people which is why some people bash BMWs.
That's my 3 cents and change.

Obviously you have not been to the E46 fanatics or the BMW M5 boards. All you get at those boards is MB bashing.
While I love and respect BMWs I fled those boards because those users are too fanatical for my tastes. You need to take a careful look at the threads in the before mentioned forums before you start making blanket statements about ignorance within car communities.

Which BMW boards are you reading because every BMW board I read, they trash Benzs and think their M's are so much better than the AMGs.

I think ML500 hasn't been on a BMW fanatic board lately. Also, please Don't ASSume those of us here have never owned a BMW.
I bought a brand new 1996 E36 M3 and drove that car for 55,000 miles in Southern Ca. I had a problem with the Fuel Gauge and Brake lights from day one. Yeah I drove an Ultimate Driving Machine and that Lemon M3 WASN'T IT! Nor was it that handling beast everyone talks about.
I paid good money for that car and everytime I took it in for the Fuel problem it was the same ol' crap. It's working now, but in 200 miles is bad again. After a while it gets old.
As for as the M5 vs. the SL55, it is NO COMPARISON. The M5 can have its battle with a Z06 and stay out of Mercedes' league until they can build a WORTHY $125,000 Coupe and not just souped-up SEDANs. Until then the SL55 has No challenger from BMW....
