Am I responsible?
A couple of years ago I stopped at a light in My Black 1971 1/2 Firebird Formula 400, 330 hp. A guy in a Black Corvette Stingray stopped beside me. We gave each others' cars the once- over glance while waiting for the light.
When the light changed we both hit it, and took off in a cloud of smoke. We were side by side at 50 mph when I shut down, as I felt that was fast enough even tho it was a limited access road.
The guy in the Stingray kept his foot on it and I estimated he was at 120 mph+ when he reached a right hand curve ahead. When I got there his vette was wraped around a pole. I got out to see if I could do anything, the guy was dead.
How responsible am I?

I would not say that u are 100% not responsible. I remeber seeing on the news a while ago that some guy was street racing and the guy he was racing hit a kid and the kid died. They both wound up in jail. Even the guy that did not kill the girl. Of course he would not be in as long or on the same charges but........ I really am not sure, but there is a chance you may be responsible. (I wish I remebered the whole story

two cars street racing head to head and a crash during the race is quite different from a race from 0 to 50 and then a crash a mile down the road when one car continued on into the 120 mph range for no reason other than to look cool.
The cop that took the accident report was so upset that his hand was shaking too badly to write down my name, just as well for me i guess.
