Street racing naysayers
I saw this and thought of those of you in the section who are always poo-pooing any street racing story.

NEW PORT RICHEY, Florida -- The search continues for three men accused of beating up a New Port Richey man man so violently that a portion of his skull had to be removed due to the swelling in his brain. He remains unconscious in the hospital.
Detectives with the Pasco County Sheriff's Office say 31-year-old Thomas Flanigan was attacked on Super Bowl Sunday after pulling into his driveway near the corner of Latimer Street and Beacon Hill Drive.
Flanigan's girlfriend says the beating was all because he refused to race them.

Melissa MacArthur says a white Ford Expedition with three men inside pulled up next to them. She says, "There were three of them kind of yelling back and forth. 'Do you want to race?' Revving their engines."
MacArthur says her boyfriend told them he wasn't interested, but she says the men in the SUV wouldn't let up.

Waaaait a minute. Everyone knows street racing is dangerous and has its risks. So somebody got beat up badly because he didn't want to risk himself, his vehicle and other lives? Is this message supposed to strongly persuade the naysayers to justify street racing or something?
Don't get me wrong, I love runs and random bursts of speed every now and then but there's a limit especially when traffic/cops are around. ALSO sounds like the men may have known the guy personally since it sounds only personal to BEAT UP somebody over refusing a race... Or there just crazy people out there just looking for trouble. Maybe he got beat up over another unrelated issue and refusing a race was to blame.
Note: if the men didn't look dangerous or sound like that, I would've ran them in my GL and destroyed their Expedition. From standstill or rolling. Why try to race a Mustang in a big SLOW Ford Expedition? Especially a newer Mustang that has a V8?
