E55 vs Kawasaki

I was rushing to get to a light next to a new BMW 525 (new style) and the driver was on the phone and wasn't going to play. So then I get to the next light and a Kawaski Motorcycle pulls up next to me. He edges forward before the light and revs his engine. When the light turns green, we both kinda easy out of the gates, we were doing about 15-20 mph when I decided to just floor it to see if he wants to run. As soon as I did, he was about to my rear wheels(3/4 car length) when I hear his engine whine up. I can hear him shifting through his gears. We were on a slight decline. I lost a little bit of traction going over a bump in the road and then I can see him in my passenger window. He was at my passenger window for about 3-5 seconds when I looked up and there was an intersection coming up. The light was green but could turn yellow at anytime and there were cars on both sides of the street. I decided to easy up and hit the brakes. Ironically, he did the same thing at the same time. Things happen so fast in the E55. I didn't see how fast I was going or the rpm or anything. Just punch the pedal and hold on tight to the steering wheel. We cruised through the intersection with him in front of my by 1/2 a car length and he turns around and gives me a thumbs up. As I responded with a thumbs up to him, I thought how surprised he must have been to be only able to run side by side with a 4 door sedan.

Thumbs up to the motorcycle driver for a great race and for him also knowing when we both should easy up for safety. The race lasted for .3-.5 miles, so I know we were going fast.

Maybe he could have, but he didn't. He gained maybe 1/2 to 3/4 car length on me and then we were dead even for 3-5 seconds. Like I said, it was an awsome race and he was trying hard.

good race, but keep in mind, 100 in a car isnt the same as 100 on a bike

i hear from riders, that going over 100 makes them nervous

mayb he wasnt going as fast as he could of out of fear of losing control

i think it's more the bike could of easily killed him, but the driver chose not to. i can understand that from both drivers.. one time a 2003 m3 took off on me from a stoplight when i pulled to the front on my 2002 f4i. i didn't even know he wanted to race. so he got a really good jump to say the least. so naturally i took off chasing. it felt like the front wheel popped up maybe an inch the whole time in 1st but i finally caught him at 13000 rpm's and said c-ya in second. later i found out he works at the same co. we always talk about that and i give him props for trying. at least he drives his car the way it was meant to be driven.

We were accelerating very very fast and I can't even image what it must be like on a bike. It must be somewhat scary. What a thrill though! I wish I could race a bike again. Win or lose, it would be fun because we are suppose to lose in a 4 door sedan. I am surprised how riders are able to keep from falling off their bikes with so much speed taking off.

Going over 100 doesn't make me nervous. Actually speed isn't what thrills me, it is going into a corner with a lot of speed. I enjoy racing on a track, I do a lot of street riding also. Their are a handful of cars that can compete with your everyday bikes, but not many.

Loosing control at 100 mph on a bike is not as scary as slamming on a back of a car at a blind corner at 45 mph. Stopping instantly is what kills you not sliding.

Most definitely. Maybe he saw that there were cars too and so he slowed down. Keep in mind these bikes are devilishly fast.
