K&N air filter???
I have read on the benz forum that a k&n air filter hurts the car. I have had mine for about 4 months with out any problem. I bought mine speciffacly for 91-95 s500. I'm not sure but I need input I don't wana ruin my car should I take the filters out?

I would stick with an OEM filter straight from Mercedes.
I had a K&N Filter one time in an old 00' MBZ and well, lets say it had major problems and leave it at that. The dealer found pieces of the filter in the engine, not a good thing. I got rid of that car as soon as the dealer fixed it, the bill was well over 1500 dollars.

Overall, I think K&N is decent, but not really a big deal that it's a must-have or must-not-have. Besides spending $$ for a custom-made filter, there's not too many reasons to step outside of OEM offerings. (unless you modded your engine like crazy, of course)

Not for sure about cars or MB's on this issue, but on motorcycles, the airfilters sometimes come with a metal screen over it, if you were to remove this screen you would increase airflow. This is why K&N don't make filters for some bikes, because the OEM filter with the screen removed produces better than theirs. Just like turning a fan on, and putting a screen in front of it. Just a thought, I am not sure if MB's filters have screens on them or not.
