M5 Kill
I pulled up to a light leaving my friends house on my way home & a silver M5 pulls right next to me, the light turned green right as he pulled up, so he kinda got me there, but i was right next to him until we got to the next light. We waited a few seconds until the green light, i powerbraked it to about 1400-1500 rpm's & when the light turned green we both took off, i instantly pulled more than 1/2 a car length on him & he could not catch me
We went a couple of hundred feet more & I got a full car length lead on him. When we got to the next light he honked and gave me a thumbs up, I lowered my passenger window & reciprocated. Needless to say when this light turned green we both drove at our leisure pace. No hate, just two car enthusiasts having fun!! Yes, I know i gotta chill out with my beast for a while, but this was an oppourtunity i had to take. This car is ****ing fast & that V8 is awesome, it feels like it can go on forever. I cant wait till this thing is fully broken in.

Very nice kill with the new C55, it's not even broken in yet.
I've yet to lose to any M car, fwiw...the torque of these engines hampers them off the line traction-wise, but *especially* once they're rolling, fuggedddaboutit. There are very few cars out there that can take these babies from a roll.
The SLK55 will be much more civilized, luxurious, a better daily driver...smoother ride, more quiet, but it won't give the sense of driver involvement and feel that the Lotus will....it will definitely kick the crap out of the Lotus in a straight line, but the Lotus would carry far more speed through the corners, given that it is nearly half the weight of the SLK.
These are two very different animals...definitely an apples-to-oranges comparison. D ecide what your priorities are, spend a good deal of time in each, and go for it! Have fun!!
