Z06 picked on the wrong Benz
So last Friday was a beautiful NorCal day, and I'm cruising around hwy 280 in the SL65 (now featuring a KLEEMANN ECU... 680HP, 860 FT/LBS ) with the top down just enjoying the sunny weather.
In my rearview I see a black spec gaining rapidly (I'm going ~70) and within a few more moments a black Z06 with tinted windows and a loud exhaust pulls up alongside me and starts pacing. I get this occasionally - people don't know about the '65s, and think I'm in an SL55; from the rear they look the same.
I look over and grin. The Z revs his engine. I drop the SL into 3rd (about 3500 RPM) and point him forward. I hear the Z downshift, and then the engine roars and it starts to pull forward with a classic V8 snarl. I nail the throttle on the SL, there's just a moment of pause as the turbos spool up to their new 25 PSI threshold, and then a giant invisible hand reaches out, grabs the Z06, and stops it in its tracks. The effect is almost comical - not quite what I used to see in the yellow RT/10, but not too far off. The SL leaps past the Z, the speedometer reeling off the numbers in 1-second intervals like some video game gone mad. 80... 92... 105... 113... 121... 127... and I look in my rearview to see the Z many carlengths back and fading quickly. 130 is *ahem* probably fast enough for the public road, so I apply the binders and bring things back down to quasi-legal speeds.
The Z pulls up alongside again, and down comes the tinted window. The fellow driving looks over, shakes his head, and gives me a huge grin and a big big thumbs up, which I enthusiastically return.
I love this car!!

Best kill story I have heard in a long time. Cool race that's what your SL65 and the 860lbs of torque is for!

Man...Tuscan is a very bitter person. He jus really hates his benz and everything with it. Whatever.
Anyways Treynor...question. Since you have used both Renntech AND Kleemann now...what are your thoughts on the two? I know that they are both on 2 totally different cars but I want to know you initial reaction. I want to know if it really is worth spending the extra money on Renntech instead of Kleeman.
I am planning on going Kleeman only because Renntech doesn't offer headers. I want to be at the point of ecu-pulley-and headers. I don't want to mix and match. If Renntech is really better then I will stop at the ecu and pulley. If not I will go with Kleeman and eventually end up with their headers sometime... Thanks in advance...

Nice, where was this? I live out here in the Bay area, and I want to know where I can try to race you....JK I would get killed so bad it would be like the invisible hand was there before I even approached you.

wow... am I jealous. the SL65 is a beast! I thought that an SL55 could destroy a Z06, but no doubt that the SL65 (esp. with the renntech ecu) would just pummel it.

2002 C32 Black/Charcoal
Go kill a Lambo or Ferrari, and report back!
I killed a stock Civic EX with my modded C32 yesterday!!!!
IMHO, my kill is about as impressive as a modded $200K SL65 (with nearly twice the HP and TQ of the opponent) killing a Z06.
