I was wondering if someone could help me. I own a 2000 ML320; I just installed a pair of fog lights. As far as the installation, is the vehicle pre-equipped with factory wires? If so where would they be found?
Appreciate your help and as much info as possible.
I wish I could help, but I had an independent truch shop wire my fog lights for me.
I believe the harness was located somewhere near the drivers side headlight....near the grill.
The fog lights are built into the headlight assembly. Pull off the plastic cover behind the headlights. It's tricky to get the bulbs. I had to use a mirror. Once you install bulbs,H3, into the sockets. The lights are activated by the rocker switch on the dash on low beam. There is a green light indicator on the dash that indicates the fog lights are on. The MB service said if I want them to dao the job it would cost $150.
I found it was easier to take out the whole headlight assembly in order to put the standard 55 watt bulbs into the assembly; especially on the left side. The extra lights really help to illuminate the road sides on dark country roads. I don't have the green light programed to come on; and if it costs $150 I may never get it programed. You can tell when the fog lights are on as they really light up the side of the road. As stated before, they only work when you have the low beam headlights on; and inaddition, for mine to work, they must have the key turned on!

Reason: Correct spelling

The best way to wire auxiliary fog lights is to run a wire from the factory fog light wiring (connect at the right headlight) to a relay. This relay is then connected to the battery and feeds power to the auxiliary lights when the switch is acitvated. Most aftermarket fog lights come in kits that include the relay and wiring, or you can get them at most auro parts stores.
If you don't use the integrated fogs in the headlights, you can tap into the factory harness and feed the power to the aftermarket fog lights.
You may need a voltage tester to cofirm the correct wire at the headlights.

I have green lights on dash & new fog lights ready to install but the wires are nowhere to be found , I did find 2 plugs not plugged into anything . One on driver side infront of radiator, I’m assuming it’d fit the double fan that’s missing . Then one above it at the top of the driver side radiator, could that one be where I plug in a harness that reaches to both fog lights ?

Yes it's that small plug. If the fog feature is active, put a voltmeter in there, turn on the front fog switch and you should see 12 volts. On mine I went to the junkyard and found an original harness off a ML500 so that saved me from making a harness for the right side fog light. If I remember correctly there's only one plug.

Thanks . Before I looked on here I didn’t know the fog light feature has to be “ activated “ for other w163 owners . I’m going to the junk yard soon so I’ll put a fog light wire harness on my list .
