Hello. I have a 2004 ML350 with the MCS unit, but no DVD or CD drive for the NAV function. I have the 6-disc CD changer for audio CD's, but am looking to get the NAV function. The MBZ dealer tells me all I need is the DVD-drive, then the DVD's for the maps. Other than the dealer, where could I get this DVD-drive and what would it take to install it? Any suggestions or advice is appreciated.

I dont think you can get it anywhere else but the dealer. you will need the special keys to remove the mcs unit from the dash then remove the 4 t10 screws. drop it in place. plug in you antenna and power leads. after it is installed you will still need the dealer to version code the vehicle for it. this is done with the SDS. The MCS needs to be told that it now has a Navigation unit.

You need to look at the article I posted in this fourm on 4-11-05 intitled " Great Navigation Installation". It was really an easy job and a very good installation -- contact Sammy at www.mbdoctor.com he has the OEM Mercedes parts at a great savings and he will help you with the installation including providing a copy of the necessary installation instructions written by Mercedes.

Thanks for the replies. It appears that mbdoctor deals with the complete head unit. I just need the NAV DVD-drive which the local dealer has in stock, but I was shopping around for a better price. In any event I e-mailed mbdoctor to see if he carried the NAV DVD-drive seperately then I could compare costs. Lot of great resources on this forum.

I bought just the DVD nav drive, the DVD-Rom disk, a GPS antenna splitter and some needed cables from mbdoctor.com and installed it into the MSC myself with the Mersedes installation instructions he provoded-- works great!! You will be supprised at his prices.
