2004 ML500 Low-Range Problem

My friend and I was off-roading the other day and I decided to use Low-Range up a steep hill. I engaged it and I turned around to go up a hill and when I was trying to go up, it had absolutly no power. I took it off Low-Range and it was the same way. Luckily we made it up the hill. At the top I turned Low-Range back on and then off to see if it would act normal now. I start driving off and I give the 500 the floor and it would get moving really really slow. I slamed on the brakes, turned off the engine, and started it up again and it was fine. Has anyone else had this sort of problem?
