ThyssenKrupp Bilstein of America warrants its gas pressure shock absorbers against defects in workmanship and materials for as long as you, the original purchaser, own your car.

Grill Bar
I would like to mount driving lights on our 2001 ML and could use a grill bar like that -- where can I get one that is not as expensive as the MB dealer's?

I am located in Denver Colorado. The shocks have about 5,000 miles on them, they are still pretty stiff when you try to push down on it. $125 for the fron t shocks, the only thing is that when i had them removed the guy did not give me back the dust covers, so I do not have the dust covers.

Did you put the shocks and wheels on at the same time? If so, how much different did it make the car handle?
I just upgraded to the ML55 AMG OEM 18" wheels from the original Sport model 17" and I notice a lot of body roll that I do not remeber having before. I was thinking that these wider wheels could use stiffer shocks. But I'm no mechanic.

Greg - I am at 50K now, so you are probably right, shocks would likely help. Looking around on the net it appears that there are not a lot of options as far as shocks go, it is either OEM or Bilstien. Not that I would have a problem with Bilstiens - it's just I find it odd there are so few choices.
I have not found aftermarket sway bars (haven't looked all that hard). I believe a poster mentioned the OEM are hollow and aftermarket are not. I will look into it. Wondering if the ML55 differs in this area too.

With the power of the 55 i could go uphill no problem, and with the wider wheels and lower stance i could carve the mountain pass with ease. With the speed limit on the pass at 65 i was averaging 85-90.
