Navigation System

I have the 2001 ml320 with the display / radio. I am looking to install the navigation system. Does anyone know where to get it and how difficult is it to install? When I looked at the ML with the system installed, looks like a cd player is installed behind the display. Thanks

You can get it from the dealer - I believe it is ~$2000 - not cheap. The CD player is used for the navigation Cd - it can also be used as a "normal" Cd player if you remove the nav CD.

There may be another source - anyone? Cheaper?

The dealer quoted me something like $600 to install it, but our 2000 ML does not have the GPS antenna so that may increase the price a bit.

I don't recall the exact numbers because it was about a 10 months ago or so when I looked into it.

Some people from the other board have installed it themselves and claim it was an easy less than an hour job but then the MCS must be programmed by the dealer to have it work correctly

Again, I think it is easy to install if you have a 2001 or newer ML with the antenna already installed.

If you have no antenna, it adds several hours to the installation - or so I was told by the dealer (who probably just wants my money!)

That is only for 2002. 2001 and earlier MLs do not need to be re-programmed. It is pretty much plug and play.
