Bixenon or HID

Someone please tell me what the difference is between the Xenon and the HID headlights. The ML500 has the bixenon - does that mean both high and low beams are HID's? How about the ML320. Looks like it has one HID. Is that Xenon (mono- or uni-xenon in this case).

Bi-xenon means both high and low beams are xenons - actually there is only one bulb and a plate moves back and forth (or at least that is how the Porsche version works)

I think stock 320s have "normal" bulbs, but Bi-xenon is optional.

HID and Xenon mean the same thing in this context.
