The HWY on ramp. Most motorists I see are astounded to see a hulking SUV like the ML500 hit 65 so fast. About 7 seconds sound right to me.

they are still fast for a SUV... i raced a girl at my school she drove a auto 325CI convertable and it was a neck on neck race and that was in a ML320. a ML500 would of dusted her. i would say that our ML is faster than most cars on the road. next time you see a honda with a fart can race em you will be suprised most of them you will beat by alot. but beware of the middle finger and curse words at the next light but most are cool and give you a WTF is in that thing look.

Beat. . .BUT at HWY speeds, those guys are toast, literally! Can't argue with 288hp & 325 lbs of torque!

I have raced many cars and they give me the WTF face or oh **** I don't have as much power as I thought I did, the ML500 is a really powerful SUV, I would say I would not trade it for another Mercedes, I love my machine. I have smoked many Cavaliers and Cougar's in my day.

Check out my ML at http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2076283

the 0-62 [100 KM] is 6.8 for the ML55 and around 7.6 for the ML500. Certain conditions and drivers may get better numbers but those are the numbers quoted by Kleemann for a stock ML55 & ML500. All cars have variations but it would take a lot for an ML500 to get in the 6's from a dead start [perhaps with the wind, downhill, ideal temperature, specific thinner tires and pressure, and perfect gear changes]. I'd have to see it repeated to believe it. The real advantage for our heavy MLs is when we are already on the move at speed and then we gun it.

Check out the Klemmann website under "My Kleemann" and "car configurator". I'm not purporting they are the be all and end all but the numbers are realistic. No offense pointman but I get an ML500 loaner whenever I bring my Kompressed ML430 to the MB dealer for service and it has great power but it is not as fast as my ML.

no probs Lochs, we've been posting together for way too long for me to get worked up over differing opinions.

and i stick to my claim. heres a link to car and driver saying the ml500 does 0-60 in 6.7 seconds.

The new ML63 is supposed to get to 60 in 5.0 Let's see if Car and Driver can get it in the fours. They probably will...and I'm sure Mercedes will send them the right mule for the job wink, wink.

I thought I was the only one. I think it is like specs on anything else. In the audio world there are a lot of spec hocus pocus. For example, if you buy a home theater receiver they spec out say 100w per channel, but if you look behind the testing procedure, its only with 1 channel driven at a specific frequency. It's unrealistic.

MB must be factoring in real world motoring before publishing specs and allow others to upset those specs in a good way. Very few manufacturers do this nowadays.
