Navigation/Stereo System Problem

Today while driving my ML430, I was listening to CDs. Then I reached for the Modular Control System (MCS) and hit the navigation button. Up came the blue screen and the prompt to hit the enter button to continue.

I sat and waited for a good 15 seconds before hitting the joystick enter button. It wouldn't take. I then tried to hit the CD button to get it back into CD mode but it didnt' take.

So I cut the engine thinking it would reset itself. Boy was I wrong. Now, after I turn my SUV on, the MCS comes up but is very dim. I can see the SUV logo appear followed by what appears the same blue screen asking me to hit the enter key. I try entering but it doesnt work. I try hitting the CD button but it doesn't work.

Anyone got ideas of wtf went wrong? Have any experience with something like this. Like I said, everything was working fine.

Most likely you will have to replace the MCS but try to reboot it by starting the vehicle then turn off the MCS with the on off button and then restart it

Well I fixed the problem. And saved myself $2K in the process.

Solution? Disconnect the negative battery cable and reconnect after several minutes to reset the MCS unit.

Then, of course, entering in the radio control code.

All is good!
