extended warranty inspection

extended warranty inspection
i was tol by the dealer that in order for me to buy extended warranty MB (starmark) for $2900 tax incl.canadian for 2 years (similar to bumper to bumper) that the car needs to be inspected by the dealer to see if it is "worthy" of them selling me the warranty wich runs out at the end of the month.
this inspection would cost me $300/$400 bucks extra.for what?car is serviced by MB all along...
has anyone experienced this???i'm thinking on not buying the warranty just based on that rediculos extra.
2001 ml320 with 46,000 kilometers(canada) only put 7k a year..is it woth buying the warranty???
