ML430 brakes
What's going on?
FYI
I have a '00 ML430 and continue to suffer from brake squeal even now at 34,000 miles - but I've learnt to check my pads visually as the wear warning light cannot be relied on. I can slo tell normal squeal from metal on metal squeal ;-)
I would be surprised if your pads are shot at 8000 ish miles - but not impossible....
Most people seem to be getting 20,000 ish out of the front pads and slightly less out of the rears on V8 ML's.
Of course, driving conditions and style play a big part in how long they last.
I got 22000 out of ours in stop go So Cal type traffic.

Some not only offer increased friction, they also reduce brake dust to 10% of he amount generated by the originals.
If you drive you truck hard, you may want to change the disks to cross-drilled high perfs.
It is a known problem with the V8, not that it really is caused by faulty design. The truck is fast, and we have to admint that we enjoy pushing it too. It is also heavy, it brakes well, but it is not car, and pushing the brake system hard can easily warp the rotors and use up all the consumables on the pads.
