Skyview issues

Skyview issues
Well we are back from the dealer again. I have been working on resolving the jammed skyview roof for 2 weeks. The dealer is no help. I want to disable and close the roof. I am within 3 inches of closed. I know that the dealer states the only fix to close or anything is to order a new unit. With the milage and many costly issues we have had I really do not want to sink 4000+ into a truck with 125K on it.
I have tried the cleaning, cranking and pulling. Does anyone have any futher ideas or help? Please. TYIA.

Depending on how its jammed it may be impossible to close and be weathertight. Replacing the roof may be your only option other than duct tape and something like canvas. But, then you will most likely be the last owner of that ML, as no one will ever buy it in that condition. Skyviews are a disaster. My dealer would not sell me or other customers an ML equipped with one. There may be a few out there that no one has had any issues with But they will have problems.

5+ years with the skyview...no problems whatsoever
I have heard mixed stories on how reliable the roof is though...
As for me, its for the very presence of the skyview on my ML that I will probably never sell/trade it...for anything else.

I have a skyview on my 2000 ML 430 and its jammed shut.
I was going to wait till spring to start to get it working but listening to the horror stories about them I may just leave it shut !
Would anyone recommend me getting it working or just leave it closed for good ?
