MY03 M-Class MSRP

Model Year 2003 M-Class MSRP as follows:

ML320 $36,600 (0.8% change vs. MY02)

ML500 $45,350 (0.9% change vs. MY02)

ML55 AMG To Be Determined

Standard DVD Navigation for ML500 (optional ML320). This now allows the driver to have a single DVD-ROM disk to cover the entire US/Canada, eliminating the need for the current 10 CD-ROM disks.

Due to MCS modularity capability, this DVD system can be installed in any ML vehicle equipped with an MCS display, back to MY2000.

If the part about the DVD Nav is true then that's great for me - I've been looking for the nav module for my '02 320 and now I can just wait for the DVD to come.

Any idea of the cost of the module? or the DVD itself for the US?

Thanks

Me too...

I did not get a Nav installed b/c I wanted the DVD based one.

"But does it play DVDs?".. :-) Really, will it play DVDs and will it have video out to a monitor in the back? This way, I can use one unit for nav and dvd play.

Thanks,
maneesh

Unfortunately, I doubt it will be able to play movies. That's because although the DVD drive can read them, MB's firmware probably will not support that. I'm saying this on the basis that while the COMAND system has a TV Tuner option, etc. the MCS has no video system capabalities built in.

Also I don't think there is room for a "OUT" port as they are not changing the MCS - only the module. And I don't remember the MCS as having room for such a port from a module.

Anyone knows what's new in '03 ML320? I am still debating with myself on whether to get a '02 or a '03. Anyone has an idea of what a fair price would be on a '02 versus a '03? Based on the TMV listed in Edmunds, seems like the two would differ by no more than $1500, assuming one can get $1000 below invoice for a '02.

The only change for '03 seems to be the DVD Nav system, which itself is only a new module, not a new MCS. So you could put that DVD nav into an '02 (as I hopefully will soon).

When the '03's start coming in, the '02 prices should drop, so see how that works out and you might find a really good deal.

So the nav module is the only difference between '02 and '03, besides the price adjustment.

One idea is to get an '02 with something like 2k miles. These are used but usually in almost-new condition. You can save a lot of money this way. This is the way I got my ML and so did my relative (which I arranged). A person I know is a car dealer (not MB though) and he goes to the MBCC auctions and there is where I got my (and my relative's) ML from.

You can get a good one from $35-36k this way, or if you can work out a really good deal from your dealer that is also possible.

Hope it helps.

Thanks, mbakshi. I just bought a new 2002 ML320 today. Didn't get much of a discount, but at least it was below the invoice. I am glad the process is finally over though, :-)
