How long before tune-up needed?
My 1998 ML320 has 86,500 miles on it. The first 80,000 miles were mostly highway miles - I drove a 70-mile round-trip to work every day. But now I'm a stay-home dad, so the last 6500 miles have been mostly one or two-mile trips to the school or soccer fields. And in the last week or so my car has started to stumble when starting from rest. It doesn't do it every time, but it's a little more frequent when the engine's cold.
Guess I need a tune-up. I'm not that surprised, given the type of driving I do now. Has anyone actually made it to 100,000 miles before needing a tune-up?
(And in response to the "are you satisfied" post, yes, I'm very satisfied. My car performs as I expected, and I've had very few problems with it, much fewer than other people I know of.)

Tune-up
Have you followed the routine maintenance from the on-board computer? Push odometer button twice, and the computed mileage-to-service display should show up.
I've relied on the on-board computer and my dealer to take care of all that.

My FSS display says I don't need service for another 7600 miles. I thought the FSS only measured the condition of the oil though, not the ignition system. Do you know something different?

I'm not a mechanic, but it's my understanding that a variety of sensors feed into that calculation. But, since the engine is giving you a bit of a problem, I'd let them check it out for you.

Thanks for the info. Fortunately my problem cleared up on its own before I could take it in to the dealer. Guess it was a bad tank of gas.

Oil
BTW, I was wrong. The on board computer DOES only test oil condition (in a number of ways)! That, plus it counts down from 10K miles.
Sorry for misinformation.
Glad problem was corrected.
