Dropped the nose about 3/4" while I was in there. Pics are dark and no working photoshop at present, sorry.

For those with LCD monitors... Enjoy.

I like the HID conversion on the Volvo, I have owned various T-5's & 3 "R"s over the years. always wanted to do the sub as you did, just never got around to do it

I know I keep buggin you about this... you used a jaguar HID set in the halogen projector fixtures... 1) did you need to do any fancy rewiring or was the ballast plug and play(not including turning it on from the ECU) and 2) does the halogen projector lamp fixture have room for A ballast to be tucked inside of it? My pre 02 headlights on the ML55 have a factory location where the ballast slides in to...

my goal is to purchase a set of halogen projector fixtures and install my xenon ballast and headlight bulbs in it

If I could do it again, I would just buy the bi-xenon ones for another $150 (paid $380 for lights and $175 for HIDs). The valeo ballasts do fit in the housings with some manipulation. The D2R base bulbs required rings to be made (frustrating, since "normal" H7 clips like H1 clips would have worked, but Hella made these lights for adapters). Fortunately, H7 and D2R/S bulbs have identical filament placing. Also Jaguar for some reason has heatsinks installed on ballasts, Audi does not on the same ballasts; I removed mine to tuck them into the headlight.

Edit: Do you have the old chunky Hella ballasts? There is no way they will fit into the housings, but you won't have a problem with the ignitors.

Ill take a pictures of the ones I have... I just ordered a set of 6000k Ultinon D2S bulbs for my current headlights, I know Im suppose to buy the D2R bulb but I bought the D2S in anticipation of the switch on the headlamp fixture. If I have a chance Ill even take a picture of the inside of the old style headlight.

Here is the cheap *** 8000k Bulbs I had from before... This is the one that died

And here is the ballast I have,

would this be easily installed in to the Projector style headlights or will the bulbs not fit? On the headlights i have, there are a set of clamps or "rings" that get screwed down over the Xenon bulbs to secure them in place, same way on the projectors?

That sounds like what you need. If there are 2 "ears" at 9:00 and 3:00, then they will work or at least be easy to modify.

but the ballasts wont fit? What was the rewiring you needed to do or did you use the pig tale wiring adapters?

My Valeo ballasts had the input wires on them, so I just had to use male (speaker) terminals to plug into the halogen H7 headlight plug. The rest is factory Valeo to the D2R bulb. You will need to figure out a connection to the input side of your ballasts and I think they will need to sit outboard of the headlights, so you will need two big grommets (seals) and a 3/4" unibit to drill 2 clean holes into each headlight backing panel (the removable one).

It sounds more involved than it is, especially if you are an installer. It's cake.
