Question about NAV Drive. MY00 ML320

Hi,

I My ML has the MCS/Tape combo. I just purchased the OEM CD changer from Ebay and was thinking of adding the NAV drive to it. My MCS has the harness for CD changer, not the fiber optic cable (Vehicle built 6/2000). My question is that I see so two different NAV drives frequent on ebay - the CD drive and the DVD. Both command about the same money. Do both fit into the MCS? If not, how can you tell which one belongs in my unit? Also some people don't know what they are selling (in terms of cd/dvd) All I see is front of the unit that has an eject button. How do one diffrentiate between them?

Lastly, I have seen the 6-in one CD changer on ebay also. Does that fit the MCS?

thanks,

Any one? I need to know if DVD and CD both fit the MCS. I don't want to get the DVD and find out it does not fit my MY00 MCS. Its kinda expensive for a DVD-ROM drive.

Has anyone ever ever found an aftermarket solution for the DVD -ROM drive?

2001 ML320
Both CD and the DVD Nav versions will work. I have thew 2001 ML320. Last year I added the CD GPS. For my year it was a shoe in. There was question as to the ability to use the DVD version for the 98-01 MY's. It can be done. Do a search here or in the benzworld forum for install instructions.
I used the dealer to install a system I bought on eBay.

If at all possible go with the DVD version over the CD. The CD version will not see any new map updates in the future unlike the DVD version. CD is n;ot being supported. Also, DVD is easier to use on long distance trips. With the DVD uou don't have to change CD's when you cross into another region.

Good luck,
RAN
