I need your guys opinion, do you think theres something wrong with this unit, like do these type of things screw up very easily?
It says Sold as is, not tested, and was taken off a car cause he had no use for it.

I just won the bid, SOME HOW I DIDN'T SEE THAT IN THE DESCRIPTION! Do you guys still think it will work? I think I bought at a good price though, it comes with insurance.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Aside from that, will it be possible to save few hundred bucks on installing and do it myself? I would like to do that.

You got a good buy if it works. Hope you have a NAV disk too. It isn't that hard to install the NAV unit yourself so I'd try it. I installed mine in my '03 ML. Bought in on Ebay. Once you put it in you'll see if it works - or not - right away. Once installed the NAV works without a visit to Benz EXCEPT for the voice. If you want voice - you will - you need to go to Benz and have it "version coded." Cost me just under $100 to have it coded. Basically there computer tells your car's computer that you have NAV installed. IF it is broken you said that it was insured and you can send it to Alpine to get it fixed. It will cost $300-$350 for repair from what I've seen of people who have had to send theirs back for repair and I don't see that often on the Forums.

Okay, thank you so much. I bought the $10 Shipping insurance, basically it covers damaged or loss items, so it would fall into the category if it is. Can someone post pictures thowing the method of installing?

Hope this works. It helped tremendously for my '03. You don't say what year your ML is in your profile.

If you put yourself in his shoes, you will get why people put these words in the auction. Even after you sell something legit, suckers will destroy it and return it back to you. From the description, it seems to be a good unit. I wish you luck. You paid 60% of what others pay on ebay. Remember, its basically a DVD player. I would not hesitate to take it to a local electronics shop for repair if ther IS something wrong.
I bought a CD changer and other accessories before I even picked up my ML from the dealership so his story might be true. You buy a truck, buy accessories for it, and never get the title. So what do ya do? You sell the accessories back on ebay.
However, there are and will be suckers out there to get you. Most legit sellers do not hide their ratings or anything because they ARE legit.
On that note, let us know. DVD nav install is plug and play! you place the dvd drive on top of the tape after removing the plastic dummy and plugin the harness from MCS to the drive. After entering security code, you will see NAV on the display where tape, Radio, or changer icons show. Click on NAV button and it should say, "No Media or No Cd" depending on its version instead of "No NAV installed". You can also put in a audio cd and it should play audio CD for you as a single. The icon for the drive looks like a single CD and has tiny NAV words on bottom.
Good Luck. I think you got a steal!
