BMW X5 - anyone owned this car ?

With the new X5 coming this fall,
there are some really attractive specials on the current X5....looking to buy a good daily driver within the next few months , but maybe its better to wait until the new one releases ? ( been hit with the new model depreciation with my ML, so hoping to be on the other end of the down for once)

Any one have any experience about these cars can give me some advice, my concerns are

* good economy
my ml500 gets 14 mpg, hoping the 3.0 x5 has alot better economy, any one have any experience ?

* reliability
cost to own, expensive repairs, any bad experiences ? Are the Toyotas better?

They are very nice cars only reason why I have an ML over an X5 is price the X5 are usually $5-$10 grand more than the ML and at the time I wasnt a X5 fan and still really not an X5 fan.

You will be maybe 2-3 mpg better I have only driven the 3.0 X5 as a loaner car. Cost to own gas will be the same as the ML it will be slower than your ML, on the X5 you get a great warranty 4 year 50,000 mile warranty that covers everything for free and I mean everything from oil to brakes.

But I would wait for the next version you are just going to get killed with depreciation when the new one comes out. Not to even mention SUV arnt selling as well as they have been you can get some good deals on the W164 ML where I live.

We looked at the X5 before we bought our W163. The 6 cylinder model didn't move me at all, and the V8 was almost $10k more than our ML430. Plus, they didn't have a white one. My wife likes white cars. What the hell, it's hers. They had a white X3, but we definitely didn't like that.
