Hello friends:

I am always fighting with the freaking cup holders on my 2000 ML320. They are just placed wrong! I am used to holding cup in right hand and its very inconvenient.

In my 5-series bimmer, we could buy aftermarket cup holders that fit on pass side of the center console. I could not find something similar for MY2K ML.

I thought about a cop holder that we can insert in the pocket in front of the gear shift knob that will cater two cups nicely.

Or maybe replace the whole centerpiece with MY2002 style so we have a cup holder in the center. Dunno if that is even possible.

Maybe someone will come up with a nifty cupholde ryou can put at ash-tray spot. I do not use mine for anything except put in my RAZR in it sometimes.

Any ideas, comments?

If you spill anything into your shifter, you'll gain some instant appreciation for the placement by the door.

Worse....my wife is always tempted to use them as a temporary storage bin for keys etc.

We had the keys stuck inside once, and boy! what a nightmare. It almost came down to having to pull the dash apart, or somehow destroy the face of the cupholder to get the keys out...

I too am always struggling to find a better place to put my drink, instead of where MB would want me to put it..

Has anyone on the forum come up with any innovative solution this?

Only problem i have with it is that it blocks the A/C vent!

Actually I miss the dash cup holders in my W164. I really liked them in the 2 W163's I had and never used the center holder in my 02 at all.

I love the location in my 99 ML430..particularly since I am left handed !!
