removing my gay resonator
****.. well i went to a place to get it done.. and im gettin all kindas **** from diff shops like its too loud
its a fine i
ll fail my inspection and
ill get no back pressure..
any ideas im so confused now... i was speaking to 55fanatic and he help me out alot.. but everyone is hesitant to do it... i guess they never worked with mercs b4? or just dont want too.. i do have one guy that i was referred to.. im going to go there tommarow but before i get it done i was hoping this forum would help me out on figuring out what to do.
what i want to do is remove the resonator and put a pipe in its place. the only thing im worried about really is the back pressure. but i dont think it will really have an affect but im very new to the whole exaust system... help me out here guys ..
AND THANK YOU AGAIN FOR ALL THE HELP...

It should essentially a y pipe - the 2 pipes from the cats dumped into the one going out the back. Wonder why they are ordering 'a pipe' - if there is something already made for this, please get manufacturer and part number. Pointman, have you done yours and if so what ML? And where did you pay $50 for a custom BOLT-ON y-pipe that is removeable or did you let them simply weld something in? Backpressure will be LESSENED which is a good thing, not unchanged.
If you have removed your center muffler (resonator) from a 320 or 430, I'd be interesting in purchasing it. I'm working on a bolt in replacement performance muffler
Sound clip here: http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...305&pr=goog-sl
from my 55 in my garage at about 5' from startup to 5K RPM. The sound and performance were better when I removed the rear muffler and left the center in place but I can't get the AMG tips separately and I'm hesitant to cut the expensive rear muffler pipes. Both weigh about 45lbs.
