I cannot change the clock on my 2000 ml320 by using the knob on the instrument cluster. and suggestions on how to change the clock manually, or an alternative method to change it?

You are pulling on the right *** correct? While twisting it one way for hour and the other for min? I find that you have to pull it out and hold it for about 5-10 seconds before the time will start to change. So far to my knowledge that is the only way to change it unless you have NAV I know on the E class NAV the clock and the NAV unit are synced so you have to set the time in the NAV unit and make sure it is syncing with the clock or every time you try and change the clock it will revert back to what the NAV says.

GPS equipped cars should never have to set their clocks..
Its funny, now that you mention about the car clock trying to sync up with the nav time on the E-class. I don't believe the M class nav displays time on it.
In either case, GPS units besides being positioning devices are also essentially atomic clocks. Thus, cars that have GPS units on them should never have to require time setting in the first place, especially factory equipped nav systems should have the car clocks hooked up to the GPS receiver too.
Wonder, why manufacturer's don't or haven't done that yet?
