I need the front differential for a 1998 ml320 (w163), anyone parting one out, or know of good M.B. used part connection in midwestern U.S.A.???

Check fleabay. There is a parts dismanter who regularly has ML and MB parts. I think out of Maryland. You need a pre 2002 facelift diff, 3.46 gears.

Jerry

Couldnt he get the newer one? I thought on some of the older ones they replace it to make the car run at 48/52 vs 50/50 so the car would turn better.

You would need to replace the transfer case.

Not sure about torque split, but the newer ones have 3.70 gears. If it otherwise fits, you would have to change out the ring and pinion with the exisitng 3.46 gears. Doable, but a lot of work. There is a rear diff on fleabay right now, check with the dismantler, Potomac for front diff.

Jerry
