ml350 '06 auto-trunk not workin

hey guys, just bought an '06 ml350 and it has the auto trunk open-close button. They tried it and it didnt open or close and said that the battery just needed to be charged more before it works, is that true? Its been half a day and tried it again and still doesnt work. the key button doesnt work at all, but the button on the driver door will pop it open but doesnt go up. should i wait longer? I have to take it back to dealership for by dvd navigation thingy anyways but wanted to chek here

So why would the battery go low on a 06 ML? Tell them if thats the case, replace the battery, if it goes bad that fast there must be some defect. If your talking about the main battery in the car, wouldnt other things stop working before that?

Sounds to me like they just don't want to fix it. This is a very common problem in the '06 MLs. My friend had the same problem with his. I think they had to change the latch but I'm not positive. If you do a search for your problem in the W164 section you'll probably find others who have the same problem and a solution.

First off this should be on the W164 forum. Second, the common problem with the auto hatch is not pulling itself closed. They do open and close but the latch in some cases does not pull the hatch in. This guy has some other problem and he should go to the dealer and take advantage of the warranty. I do not believe that an MB dealer would tell him its the battery. Perhaps it was bought used from a non MB dealer and thats where he is going for service.

Got this on one of the other Benz Forums. If the link doesn't work here then cut & paste. Take a copy to your Benz dealer. That is what my friend did. Then they "magically" knew about the problem! A post from Wolfgang:
