things to check before i hand over the check

ok, i am buying a 2001 ml430, bought it off ebay (yeah, i know). here is the actual car: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...RK%3AMEWN%3AIT . its covered with the genway warranty for the next 1.5 years or 100k, and covers pretty much everything in the car. it was serviced at MB of Chicago, and the carfax checks out.

now what should i check when i go see the car and drive it? ive made this list, anything else i should consider?

check VIN to match carfax
paint, rust
car body, bumpers, unders
open all doors, hood, trunk
engine
make sure both keys work
oil
check dash, lights, wipers, blinker, brights, no cracks in lights
test nav
test cd player, cd changer, speakers
look over leather, trunk, carpet
tires, rims, spare, tires same brand
windows, sunroof, glass, rear view mirrors
climate controls, heated seats
sit in all seats, fold seats down, power seats, memory, seat belts
wiring
security system
inside lights
make sure jack is there
gas cap
make sure all options are there

TEST DRIVE
start engine, listen
check drive and reverse
accellerate, break, both hard and soft, listen
turn both ways, test alliangment

make sure nav cds, 2 keys, manuals, MB of Chicago papers, GE warranty, title (clear), insurence, mats, document the owners driver's license info

then finally pay. any more advice?

Why not have it taken to a dealer and have them go over it for any potential problems. Well worth the expense.

Yea dealer can check out everything. Who knows the guy might of bought an OBD reader and reset a check engine light. Its worth it even if you have to pay for an hour of labor to have a tech check over the car it might save you thousands down the line.

If the car came with FMBSH, then you don't need to have another dealer check it over. Isn't that the whole point of maintaining it?

And if a major MB dealership in Illinois isn't up to scratch in their service department, then heaven help the rest of us.
