insurance work question
ok...so some idiot backed into my parked 00 430 pushing in the rear hatch and messing up my bumper...his insurance co apraised the damage at $800 and sent me a check??? its going to cost alot more than that?? and I want to bring to the dealer to have the work done right....is his insurance responsible for the difference??? I live in RI...any thoughts? thanks

Don't cash the check. Have the insurance deal with the bodyshop of your choice directly. Depending on your state you may also qualify for a diminished value claim.

Very important that you dont not cash the check. Cashing the check basically says you accept their offer to settle. Your insurance agent should be able to help you out if not consider getting a new insurance agent/company. A few years back my brother was using my car and got rear ended when at a red light they tried to send us a check, well we received the estimate before we got the check and the check they sent us was extremely off from what the cost of fixing it was at the time the car was a year old and had less thank 10k miles on it. If you need a new bumper painted you are easily looking at over $500 with labor included and hatch damage is going to be expensive.

you are never going to belive this but I came out from dinner friday and it looks like someone hit the rear quarter of my truck with a baseball bat!!!!! so now I have two claims out!!! except mine has $1000 deductabile..
