anyone know???

I've got a ML 500 2002 with everything in the truck including nav...dvd/VCR 3rd row seating.. etc.

87,000 miles on it. with minor paint damaged. I'm probably going to get new tires.... BUT, the question is...

What do you think this truck is worth? How much would you expect to pay for this?

I checked with KBB, and even a dealer was way off by about 5K!!!!

Again, the truck is loaded with every option available for the ML 500

OK, I'm a buyer looking for a ML500

I see loaded and am happy. But I know the ML's woes and 87K gives me mixed feelings. On one hand it tells me that if the owner kept it that long, it probably has all the bugs taken care of. But, then that's nearly 22K/year average - high for most people (until they start driving the ML themselves). Plus, the 06/07 are out and I don't want to check with KBB yet. I assume there are no mechanicals, but the "minor" paint job bothers me some because I know how costly minor pin jobs turn out. The tire situation also bothers me, but I give the owner a break hoping that they're not worn out completely - if worn out, that tells me the owner was somewhat lax in upkeep. The DVD/VCR thinh makes me wonder...is it a DVD, a VCR or both??? Why is the owner not making this clear. After some thoughts, I say no more than 12K

Quite frankly the dealer is most likely right on. He knows more than KBB. In fact most dealers sell cars for under the KBB retail. The most accurate information comes from the weekly auction reports that are wholesale auctions for dealers. From this number they can estimate retail and the cost to them of making it retail ready. Yours seems to need a bit of refurb and the mileage is quite a bit over average which really effects value.

I would say it is worth about 18k at most for trade in more around 17k. you have to factor in the cost to fix up and clean the car for sale. most dealer will just end up sending the car to auction.... for the most part deals are dead on say if you tried to sell it on your own you have to pay taxes on the sale then tax on the new car and that usally makes up the diffrence between the dealers price and private party sale.

just to give you an idea I have a 02 ml320 with 36000 miles on it and was only offered 15k and the car is in perfect conditon along with brand new tires and nothing I mean nothing wrong with it, I have the premium package on the car and it is fairly loaded I have everything but bose and nav

Well, some dealers want to give me 16-17000 for it. I changed the tires back to OEM Dunlop SP Sport 5000, and no mechanical problems whatsoever. The DVD/VCR is a true statement. Both MB units under the back row seats. So, yes... there is both.

Then 16-17K may be fine. My loaded 05 500 Sport with 30K is estimated at below $25K - disappointing reference.
