ML 320 CD Changer problem

Hello everyone!
I'm new to this forum but I've visited it before.
It's great to see how people help each other.
So, I have a 2002 ML 320 and the CD changer stopped working.
It doesn't recognize the CD's in the magazine.
Does anyone have an idea of how to fix it?
Thank you,
Best regards.
Frank.

Talking Problem with CD changer

Hey I just saw your post. The ML320's have that defect with the CD changer. I used to work for Benzel Busch Mercedes Benz in Englewood, New Jersey and I saw 3 mls a week with the same problem. I currently own two ML's the 1999 ML320 i got second hand. The CD changer worked for two months but went bad. The problem occurs most when using burnt CD's or MP3 filed CD's. My best advice to you is to change the CD player completly. I purchased 2 diffrent CD changer with my discount at Mercedes and they always came up with the same problem. In the end i just decided to change to a head unit to a double din tv that not only takes CD's but it also takes DVD's and VCD's. I will post pics soon..

Try this.

Hi,

I have never heard of changers being bad on ML's or everyone be screaming. Amore common attribute is the changer cartrigge deshaping due to age, temperature extremes etc.

When my changer quit working, I simply ordered a replacement cartridge and it spurred back to life. Before, it sais "CD Changer Error" which does not tell you much.

These changers are made by panasonic and there is not much in there that can go bad. Also they are repairable by stereo shops (panasonic parts apply).

No problem. I still have the old cartridge. I accidently put it back once and it started giving me same error. The cartridges are faily cheap between $5 and $25 depending on auction. I was lucky I had two that canme with mine (off ebay - I think I paid $225 for changer with two cartridges)

One more thought. You can go to any mercedes dealer and request to try a cartridge from an ML in their used car floor. If they wont let you try, explain it to parts dept and buy one. if it doesnt work, return it for full refund. Its worth trying.

If you know any one that has an ML try to borrow it. Look for your local mb enthusiat club and ask someone there. I have no doubts, someone will let you try the cartridge. If its the cartridge, you are lucky since its cheap, and they DO go bad. Mine looks perfect but closely inspected, it seems to have been deshaped as I had something heavy on it one time (prolly a box full of books) and the plastic kinda got depressed.

Hello,
I did a changer exchange with an other ML owner. I can't explain but it fixed the problem. I have no idea why.
Anyway, thanks for the advice.
I greatly appreciate it.

ML320 CD Player Error

Anyone ever tried to fiddle with the wiring? I unplugged the wires, moves the wires a bit to ensure contact, then plugged back. The unit will work for a couple of more days then fail again. Any ideas?

98 cd player

I was given this car by a friend. Had NO idea it had a cd player in it! I've never seen one in the trunk!! I finally watched a youtube video on how to access it. I loaded it with cd's, and it played the 1st one, then wouldn't play any others....came up with an error message. Now, I can't even eject it! Any ideas?????
