I juss added a sony reciever in my 98' ML 320..but someone i can play AM on it...but i can play FM on it...is it because is a non-european radio so the antenna in the car is different? how can i make my AM radio work...do i have to add a new antenna??

Hi,

You will have to add a new antenna. I added a Sony MP3 Player to my 2002 ML320 and had the same problem.

For AM radio all you need to do is add a wire to the existing car antenna. That is make a Y adapter. Attach the common to the Radio. Attach one end of the Y to the car radio antenna for FM. And attach a wire to the other end of the Y for AM. Then fine a nice place to hide the wire.

you took out the MCS? where did you get the brackets from?

No Brackets required. The Cut out is exactly a double DIN.

The Sony Radio came with a Metal Sleeve that was a perfect fit and the Plastic pocket also had adapters that made the install a piece of cake.

I spent more time installing the new Polk speakers then I did installing the Radio!

The antena in the car is great for FM but I yet to have the time to figure out how MB did the AM anternna in the car.

For now I have run just a piece of wire which works great.

Not trying to be mean or anything but that Sony receiver looks like trash in your ML dude. The MCS was bangin'!!! What you should have done was take that beast to Hi-Fi Buys and get em to toss a DVD changer into the glove box and wire it up to the MCS. Get you a Navi and the phone and screw the MP3's.
