Gear won't shift from P to R, N, D unless manually overidden
Hi Folks,
This morning my BAS/ESP light came on and it also locked my GearBox...I have to manually shift from P to any of the below gears...anyone know what's causing it to lock and why? Truck is running fine...it's been babied with frequent service jobs and brakes were fine last time we checked them...
so any suggestions?

2010 ML550, 2010 E350 4M, 1966 Corvette Convt C2
Most likely the brake light switch failed and that controls the shift lock release in addition to the BAS and ABS/ESP lights and systems. Faitly common problem and an easy inexpensive fix.

Thanks SOSH! Got the part from Dealership...cost $9.89...and 10 mins or so it was replaced, brake lights came back on and shift knob moved! VOILA!!!
