![Question](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/icons/icon5.gif)
Just bought my 03 ML500 and need to have a hitch installed. Our 80 lb chocolate lab pup loves riding in the back with the vent windows, but lifting her in and out is difficult to say the least. There is a product called the Twist Step that plugs into the hitch. The platform swivels out 180 degrees and provides a nice large step. So, has anyone had a hitch installed. I will confirm, but the dealer wanted just under $600 which would include the wiring harness and all which will not be used. Rack n Road has offered a DrawTite or Curt hitch for under $500 without the wiring harness. Any thoughts? All prices include install. Thanks. The pup thanks you, too. Any recommendations on cargo mats?

Do a little search on the forum. I can find it right now but I was in the same boat as you are couple of month ago and I believe I saw that the full OEM Hitch with complete harness can be had for $350.00 Plus $150 install from you local mechanic.

Steel Grey 2012 ML350 is wife's
trailerhitches.com has them for $129 no wiring harness. I just purchased one for my ml500, very similar to the oem style on my ml430. You will be happy like me.

Is that the curt hitch? That's the one Rack 'n Road offered me. Said it looked cleaner than the draw-tite, but no pics of installed units. Went to dealer today for service and to have pre-ordered hitch installed. As it turns out, discontinued and never came in. She's trying to find it for me, but if not, I may be faced with going elsewhere. Wanted dealer to install, so if they screw up the bumper there is more security. Will find out tomorrow if they can get it after all. Also will pick up my cargo mat. Went with the husky mat, as I was happy with that for my old Explorer.
