Key won't start 98 ML320
I had the fuel pump replaced on my 1998 ML320. While in the shop waiting for the fuel pump, the battery died. Now, the key that I normally use doesn't start the car. I have to use the spare key/remote. I tried re-sync per the manual, and still won't start. Is there a way to repair the key? I know there is a diode or transpoder in the key. Is this diode in the key or part of the remote.
Alternatively, I was thinking of buying a remote from ebay, and replace the metal key with the the one off my old remote. Will I still have to take it to the dealer to have it re-sync?

dont buy a key off ebay. it will not work. i have tried and spent money on nothing. the dealer will not like it, and tell you to purchase a new one. might as well just shell out the $120 and get a new one.
