auxin2r cable didnt work

Hi. I have a 2000 ML55. I got the auxin2r cable and the belkin RCA to 3.5mm cable. after plugging everything in it didnt work. The MCS unit will only read CD from the indash CD drive. There wasnt a way I can choose the CD changer or 2nd CD source. Is there a special trick I have to do on the MCS before the Auxin2r cable will work? I tried disconnecting the power and enter the security code but it still would not work. Please help.

cd-changer missing when I bought the car. also I only had the MP3 player at 1/2 volume. Let me know if these factor plays a part in the inoperable Auxin2r converstion.

Thanks.

you need that second CD changer port I think.

I just did this install and it works great.

Try pressing CD again (twice) see what happens

Someone told me i need the CD changer to activate the MCS into thinking it has a CD changer. Then I can plug in the AUXIN2R cable. So I need to get a CD player even tho they are useless now.

Awaiting a new arrival...
Can someone point me to more info on this?

Is this the correct cable? http://www.crutchfield.com/S-ed9siIL...r&i=023AUXIN2R

I have an 01 ML320 Sport with factory changer, no navi, no in-dash CD. If I want to add my iPod, is this the correct cable to start with?

Appreciate any insight/direction from others doing this already. Thanks.

Yes this is the cable I bought. I couldnt get my MCS to work with it because I dont have a factory CD changer. I would need one just to activate the CD changer ability to use that cable.

Riffyb, What year is your ML? Also, do you see anything on your MCS screen; e.g., current song playing, when playing your ipod?
