2003 ML500 - soon
Question Color choice for new ML500

Will be buying a new ML500 and can't decide on color. I'm in new home sales and so it is exposed to a lot of dust at work and then it will sit in the driveway at home. Obviously lighter colors are better. I'll probably go with silver, like every other ML I see on the road, as I have white now and want a change. The desert silver is okay, but I prefer the charcoal interior over java and then the headliner is gray, I would assume. Wish they had a light blue or medium gray or something else. Does anybody know of any other colors? Anything special order?, not that I want to pay any more. I suspect the Everest green is fairly dark, but I don't think I've seen one. Pictures and thoughts, please.

Have you seen the 2003 models new color, Pewter? It's darker than silver and lighter than the dark tectite grey. Really cool! That's the color I plan to get when I order my car next month. There have been some posts of cars in pewter...just search the forum.

Thumbs up Color choice

Thanks for the input. Pewter sounds awesome! I have the US 2003 ML brochure and it does not show it nor have I seen it on the website. Is it for US? Thanks.

We bought a 2002 in Black Opal. It looks black at night, but is violet, purple, blue, and green in the sunlight. It is gorgeous and plus, everyone has silver and soon everyone will have pewter.

Actually, I just checked MBUSA.com and it does appear that Pewter is not available for the new ML500. ??? Most other 2003 models do offer this color.

Alabama- built cars' color choice usually very limited . Reason for no Pewter on the ML.

Joe, we discussed this before. What you want is the desert silver with charcoal or ash interior. You don't want the dark colors because of maintenance, given the work environment you described, unless you're ready to clean it almost every other day!!! Since it'll be sitting outside, you'll have water stains on the paint very shortly after you get the truck. They'll be visible and even worse if you're in tacid rain zones. It'll eventually look quite ugly. These don't show nearly as much on lighter colors - best is silver to discuise these, but I hate silver!!! The Java interior is the most difficult to maintain - you'll probably haul people and stuff and very soon you'll notice stains on the seatbelt's that'll make them unsightly to use - again, these will be disguised in a darker interior. The Grey interior is very good. But, if the seats become scratched (which will probably happen given your job - have you ever trird to sell a home to a family with small kids? They'll do to the seats what you never thought of!!!), it's unsightly. Best bet is the ash interior (even though I don't really like the ash leather). There you have it. Given your environment: Desert Silver/ash.
